Williams, Hahn Promoted By Chicago White Sox

26 Oct

The Chicago White Sox have officially promoted 12 year general manager Ken Williams to executive  vice president of baseball operations. The Sox also promoted Rick Hahn , who has been Williams’s right hand man , to full time general manager. Hahn has frequently been mentioned as a candidate for other teams general manager positions and the White Sox are glad he decided to stay with the organization.

During the reign of Williams as the general manager for the Chicago White Sox the team made it the the playoffs twice but they did win the World Series in 2005. They also has a winning record in 9 out of the 12 seasons with Williams as the GM.

Video: Prince Fielder Meets Eminem

25 Oct

Fox Sports and Windows Phone spent the day with Prince Fielder this past Sunday to see what a day in his life is like.  On this particular day,  Prince got to meet Eminem at his studio and also found out who he was going to face in the World Series.  The Tigers are currently down 1-0 in the 7-game series against the Giants.

Kung Fu Panda Hits 3 HRs in Game 1 of the World Series

25 Oct

For those who have not heard Pablo Sandoval became only the fourth player in MLB history to hit 3 HRs in a World Series game. The other three who did it are Babe Ruth , Reggie Jackson and Albert Pujols. That’s a pretty incredible list of players.

To make this record tying night more amazing is that Pablo Sandoval is not a known to be a slugger. He only had 12 home runs in the regular season. What else makes this night stand out is that two of the three home runs came off of Detroit’s ace Justin Verlander.

The MLB post season is all about finding that magic and for game one that person was Pablo Sandoval. The Giants take a 1 – 0 advantage on the Tigers. Lets see what other magical nights this World Series has to offer. Until than enjoy the three home runs.

Predicting the World Series Winner

22 Oct

As I write this piece, Game 7 of the NLCS is being played. The San Francisco Giants host the St. Louis Cardinals. The Giants who were on the brink of being eliminated, having been down 3 to 1, have won 2 in a row to tie the series. They were one game from elimination in the last series against the Reds but came back to win the series. The Cardinals have the best record in MLB history in Game 7’s and the Giants are 0-5 in Game 7’s. With that said, the Giants have the momentum. Personally, I want the Giants to win and do believe they will. Continue reading

A-Rod Voted Phoniest Player

23 Aug

The results are in and Sports Illustrated has released the results for the phoniest player in the MLB. It really isn’t much of a surprise but this year’s winner goes to, Alex Rodriguez. This is another blow to what has been a bad season for A-Rod , especially now that he is on the disabled list. Continue reading

Will the Cubs Make Moves?

28 Jun

To say the Cubs have been terrible is probably an understatement. They hold one of the worst records in the league and don’t seem to be doing anything right. The offense has struggled and the pitching has been horrible. I think we all expected the team to do bad, but this bad? The present looks ugly but the future looks good. While the Cubs organization has taken the first steps in preparation, the month of July can have a huge impact on the future of the organization. Continue reading

The AL Central leading Chicago White Sox have acquired veteran infielder Kevin Youkilis, from the Boston Red Sox. All Chicago had to give up to get Kevin Youkilis were Zack Stewart, who was the fifth best arm in the White Sox bullpen, and Brent Lillibridge who had started just three games in the last 16. Chicago also received cash from Boston and will only have to pay about $2 million of Youk’s contract. Continue reading
