7 Things We Learned About SXSW

Many of us of Pursuit Of Dopeness made the trip down to Austin, TX to take in the music portion of one of the year’s most important festivals. While we were more than eager to be down in ATX and see some of the artists that had already been named, we really had no idea how it all went down nor did we really know what to expect.

In retrospect, we really enjoyed our experience down in SXSW but we certainly went through some growing pains. See the 7 things we learned about SXSW after the jump.

One of the biggest names performing at this year’s edition of SXSW down in Austin, TX was reigning king of hip hop (cuz MTV said so!) Kendrick Lamar.

Some of us at POD put up with the line at Stubb’s BBQ for about an hour and a half until we got our chance to make our in and as close to the stage as possible.

Kendrick sure didn’t disappoint. Compton’s finest MC these days performed tracks like “F*cking Problems” and “Poetic Justice,” among others, covering his career’s work up to the date. See those clips after the jump.

Video: Smashing Pumpkins Live at SXSW 2013

On the final major day of Austin’s SXSW festival, all of the big guns were brought out and every must-see show was packed. Many of us from POD lined up for the Smashing Pumpkins show but we were not lucky enough to get a wristband despite the fact we lined up for a couple of hours.

One of the fans (sundevil98) that did get into the intimate show from Red Bull Sound Select got some footage and posted it on youtube. Above you can see their clip of “Cherub Rock.”
